Euronews is committed to making its websites, intranets, extranets, software packages, and mobile applications accessible in accordance with Article 47 of Law No. 2005-102 of February 11, 2005.

The fr.euronews.com website is non-compliant with the general accessibility improvement framework (RGAA), version 4.1.2, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Test Results

The compliance audit carried out by the Novius agency reveals that:

  • Criterion 6.1: Presence of unclear link labels and link redundancy.
  • Criterion 6.2: Presence of a link without a label.

7. Scripts

  • Criterion 7.1: A script is not compatible with assistive technologies.
  • Absence of information on the displayed/hidden state.
  • Criterion 7.3: Presence of elements that do not work with the keyboard (tab, enter, arrow keys, space).
  • Criterion 7.4: Failure to warn the user when there is a change of context (a page reload) at the end of viewing a video.

8. Mandatory Elements

  • Criterion 8.6: Lack of relevance of the page title. It does not currently allow the page to be found in the Browse history or tab list.
  • Criterion 8.7: Absence of language change signaling in the page’s source code for a phrase or word that will therefore not be read correctly.

  • Criterion 10.6: Lack of visibility of a link relative to surrounding text.
  • Criterion 10.7: Absence of visible focus on certain elements.
  • Criterion 10.9: Presence of information communicated only by a change in shape, size, or position.
  • Criterion 10.11: Loss of visible content when viewing the page in mobile mode with a resolution of 320 pixels wide.
  • Criterion 10.12: Text becomes illegible with character spacing greater than the default.

11. Forms

  • Criterion 11.1: Absence of a visible label on a field.
  • Criterion 11.9: Presence of a poorly relevant button label.
  • Criterion 11.10: Absence of prior indication of the expected data format.
  • Criterion 11.11: In the form input control error message, lack of suggestions on data types and formats, as well as examples of expected values. The name of the erroneous field is not included in the error text.
  • Criterion 11.13: An attribute allowing the purpose of an input field to be deduced to enable its eventual automatic filling has an incorrect value.

12. Navigation

  • Criterion 12.1: Absence of at least two navigation systems on the site.
  • Criterion 12.6: A grouping area does not have an associated ARIA landmark.
  • Criterion 12.8: Absence of consistent tab order.
  • Criterion 12.9: Presence of a “keyboard trap” on the page. When the element receives focus, the tab and shift + tab keys do not allow reaching the next and previous focusable elements.
  • Criterion 12.11: Impossible to interact with the keyboard on content that appears on hover, focus, or activation of an interface component.

13. Consultation

  • Criterion 13.7: Potential presence on the page of flashes or sudden changes in brightness, with a frequency greater than 3 flashes/sec.

Euronews Digital Accessibility Multi-Year Plan (2025-2027)

1. Introduction

1.1 Digital Accessibility

Digital accessibility aims to ensure that all users, including people with disabilities, can access and interact with digital services without obstacles. It is based on four fundamental principles:

  • Perceptibility: Ensuring that content is visible and understandable to all.
  • Usability: Allowing fluid and accessible navigation for all users.
  • Comprehensibility: Making content and features clear and easy to use.
  • Robustness: Ensuring compatibility with current and future assistive technologies.

1.2. Euronews Commitment

Euronews is committed to improving the digital accessibility of its platforms and digital tools, by bringing its sites and applications into compliance with the General Accessibility Improvement Framework (RGAA). This commitment is part of an inclusion and social responsibility approach.

2. Objectives of the Multi-Year Plan

The objective of this plan is to:

  • Identify and correct blocking points.
  • Bring Euronews’ sites and applications into compliance with the RGAA.
  • Train and raise awareness among employees about digital accessibility.
  • Continuously monitor and improve the accessibility level of digital tools.

3. Implementation of the Action Plan (2025-2027)

2025: Audit Phase and Correction of Blocking Elements

  • Conducting a compliance audit of existing sites and applications.
  • Identification and correction of major accessibility barriers.
  • Training of technical and editorial teams in good accessibility practices.
  • Setting up an accessibility referent to lead the actions.

2026: Increased Compliance and Process Structuring

  • Continuation of corrections identified in 2025.
  • Systematic integration of accessibility requirements into new site creations and redesigns.
  • Development of an internal guide on digital accessibility.
  • Bringing online documents (PDFs, forms, videos) into compliance.

2027: Sustainability and Continuous Improvement

  • Conducting a follow-up audit to measure progress made.
  • Continuous improvement of the accessibility score of platforms.
  • Integration of accessibility into supplier selection criteria.
  • Communication on progress to stakeholders.

4. Monitoring and Performance Indicators

  • Correction rate of identified non-compliances.
  • Accessibility score measured according to RGAA.
  • Number of employees trained in digital accessibility.
  • Number of new projects integrating accessibility from the design stage.

This plan will ensure a progressive and effective transformation of Euronews’ digital tools towards optimal accessibility, beneficial for all users.
